De-Extinction Gets an AI Platform and a Funding Lane

Colossal Biosciences has announced an AI platform intended to accelerate de-extinction efforts. Peter Diamandis has also launched a fund to back startups using it. The combination links a research platform with financing for companies building around it. That could help create an ecosystem, although announcing tools and capital is different from completing the biological work they are intended to support. The ambition is considerable: give research a faster route forward. Evolution's historical archive, however, has not suddenly become a software backlog whose oldest tickets can be closed by Friday.
