Congratulations, the Door to the Games Opens Faster

Epic says its preview AI-generated Games Launcher cold-starts 46 percent faster than Steam, based on third-party Windows benchmarking it commissioned. The reported times were 5.47 seconds for Epic's preview and 10.07 seconds for Steam. Those numbers put the percentage into everyday terms: several seconds saved while opening an application. That is useful, particularly for software whose users generally arrived with plans other than admiring a loading screen. The stopwatch is measuring the doorway, however, rather than the game beyond it. A cold start is a specific operating condition. The preview build, comparison client and Windows machines define the reported test, while Epic's role as commissioner gives the comparison an interested sponsor. The result can still be informative on those terms without becoming a certificate for the entire experience. Reliability, navigation and game performance remain separate considerations. A launcher that opens quickly has completed one task well; it has not personally guaranteed that the evening's download will finish before bedtime. The AI-generated development method adds another contest around the product. Users may be curious about how the software was made, but their first request remains wonderfully traditional: please open, please work, and please do not make opening the shop feel like launching the spacecraft.
