ChatGPT Moves Into the Browser You Already Use
· New York time
OpenAI says its upgraded Chrome extension lets ChatGPT view open browser tabs when users tag Chrome in ChatGPT's web or desktop app. The feature follows the disappearance of its Atlas browser and shifts assistance toward an existing browsing environment. The tabs do not have to relocate to a new digital apartment. That could reduce copying between windows when a task depends on material already open. The activation step also matters: OpenAI describes access through tagging Chrome, not simply a chatbot volunteering to inspect the furniture. The commercial direction is practical. Instead of persuading people to adopt another browser, OpenAI is bringing its assistant to their established workspace. Unfortunately, established workspaces often include twelve abandoned shopping comparisons and a document called final-final-really.
