Windows Promises to Leave More Computer for Computing
· New York time
Microsoft says recent Windows 11 updates make the system up to 20 percent more responsive through improved memory management and reduced background resource use. It also says the changes make a meaningful difference on PCs with 8GB of RAM. These are Microsoft's performance claims, with the percentage expressed as an upper bound. The mechanism is an unusually plain selling point: keep more resources focused on what the user is actively doing. That makes efficiency relevant to existing machines, not just a feature displayed beside the newest hardware. A computer doing less work on its own behalf is not the most theatrical launch demonstration. It does, however, offer the appealing possibility that the operating system might stop treating the user's task as an interruption.
