Steam Gives Achievements Their Own Filing Cabinets
· New York time
Valve is introducing achievement sets on Steam so developers can list separate groups for a base game and downloadable content, The Verge reports. In games supporting sets, players still unlock achievements through ordinary play, Valve says. The change organizes the record afterward rather than giving players a new method of earning awards. That makes the feature useful for games whose challenge lists have grown alongside their expansions. A single accumulating pile can become several understandable groups, each with a clearer relationship to the game’s content. Completionists now have a tidier map of unfinished business, which is either a convenience or an exceptionally polite summons. The monsters may be defeated, but the checklist has discovered that it, too, can publish downloadable content.
