Cancellation Leaves Execution Scheduled, Trump Says

Trump says Nidal Hasan's execution will proceed despite the canceled livestream. “He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed,” he wrote on Truth Social, according to CBS News. The statement addresses the underlying schedule as well as the broadcast decision. In Trump's account, withdrawing public transmission does not withdraw the execution. That leaves two government decisions on separate tracks: the planned lethal action and its presentation to an audience. The broadcast has been canceled; the president's statement keeps the scheduled action in place.
