Research Labs Offered Thirty Seats, Still Need a Seating Plan
· New York time
OpenAI’s Rosalind Academic Plan offers eligible research labs up to 30 free seats for a year. The program is currently open only to labs at US universities that do not have an enterprise contract, giving a defined group a lower-cost route to using the company’s tools. For labs, the offer can make experimentation easier without eliminating the need to decide which work belongs in the system. Access and research judgment remain separate resources. The time limit also makes adoption planning relevant. A tool that becomes part of routine work deserves a plan for what happens after the introductory year. Academia is familiar with temporary support. The distinctive novelty is that this particular resource can help draft a plan explaining why the lab will eventually need continued access to the resource.
