One Laptop Applies for Three Jobs

Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra aims to serve development, AI and gaming in one machine, and an Ars Technica review finds that it largely delivers on that promise. The appeal is consolidation: fewer separate devices assigned to different versions of the same person. The practical tension is that an all-purpose computer must satisfy workloads with different priorities. Being broadly capable is useful, but buyers still need to consider which task dominates their day rather than treating a long list of roles as a personal schedule. The comic burden falls on the laptop. It is expected to support serious work, participate in the AI era and provide entertainment afterward. This is less a computer specification than a job listing with three departments, flexible hours and no mention of when the employee gets to close its lid.
