A Creator Summit Tries to Make Reach Mean Something

Paris Hilton hosted more than 200 neurodivergent creators at her Los Angeles home on October 15 for UNSTOPPABLE, a daylong ADHD creator summit produced by her nonprofit, 11:11 Media Impact. Organizers put attendees' combined audience reach at more than 500 million, a figure that describes potential distribution rather than a head count of people paying attention. The gathering, timed to ADHD Awareness Month, puts a substantial creator network behind efforts to change how ADHD appears in people's feeds. That matters because a platform can deliver personal experience, useful discussion and oversimplification through precisely the same rectangle. The rectangle does not come with a tiny librarian sorting the categories. A summit also illustrates a different use for creator scale. Reach need not be reserved for announcing a product, unveiling a collaboration or explaining why a particular beverage has become a personality. It can help people encounter experiences they might otherwise misunderstand. The challenge is turning a large collective audience into thoughtful individual encounters. Five hundred million possible impressions cannot guarantee one careful conversation. Still, assembling creators around a shared purpose offers a more substantive ambition than the internet's usual group project: discovering that everyone independently posted the same sound.
