LinkedIn Finds a Way to Put Advice on the Calendar

LinkedIn unveiled Advice Sessions on October 15, allowing professional influencers to schedule and conduct paid consultations directly in its app. The product is currently available in the United States to subscribers to its Business Premium tier, priced at $59.99 a month. The invitation to pick someone's brain now has subscription infrastructure. For people with a useful specialty, the attraction is a clearer path from an audience to a service. For potential clients, a scheduled session creates a defined opportunity to ask for help. Neither side benefits if the product confuses a large following with relevant knowledge. That is the central business tradeoff. Public content can demonstrate judgment, but a paid conversation needs a purpose beyond repeating whatever performed well in the feed. Someone buying advice presumably wants a question addressed, not the deluxe spoken edition of a carousel. The everyday comedy comes from professional culture separating two things it has long blended: being visible and being useful. Advice Sessions offers a container in which usefulness can be tested more directly. The best version would make expertise easier to find and time easier to value. The worst would give the phrase pick your brain a checkout page without improving what happens once the calendar invitation opens.
