Trump Adds an Overseas Endorsement
· New York time
President Trump has endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reelection. The intervention places the U.S. president's political support explicitly inside an allied country's electoral debate. An endorsement signals a preference; it does not determine how that country's voters will respond. For Americans, it also shows how presidential diplomacy and personal political advocacy can occupy the same public channel. Domestic campaigns already compete for attention. International endorsements add another tab to the political browser, which is now making the laptop fan work considerably harder.
