Small-Town Football Finds Enough Players Across a Border
· New York time
High school students from Sunburst, Montana, and Milk River, Alberta, have joined forces on the football field, bringing together teammates and fans from both countries. The arrangement gives an international border a distinctly local assignment: stand between two communities that still want a workable team. The appeal is practical as well as social. Small towns can discover that cooperation serves their needs better than pretending every resource exists on their own side of a line. Football already requires enough rules, equipment and coordinated travel to challenge a household calendar. Adding another country makes the logistics more impressive, but the underlying ambition remains refreshingly modest: field a team, support the students and give everyone someone to cheer for.
