Startup Gives Plant Electricity a Listening Device

Electric Plant has built an AI-powered translator intended to help humans interpret the subtle electrical activity running through plant stems. The project applies AI to biological signals rather than ordinary spoken language. The useful idea is to make those signals more understandable. That is different from establishing that a fern has a conversational opinion about the living room. Still, the premise neatly reverses the usual smart-home relationship. Humans have spent years talking to electronic devices. Now an electronic device might help them pay closer attention to something that actually needs watering.
