Lightroom Lets the Group Photo Overrule the Blink
· New York time
Adobe has added a generative AI feature to Lightroom's mobile apps that can open closed eyes in photographs with a tap. The feature is available on iOS, iPadOS and Android, giving users another way to repair a group picture without assembling everyone for another attempt. The appeal is easy to understand. A photograph can have good framing, good light and one person temporarily participating through their eyelids. Editing that detail may rescue an image people otherwise like, especially when recreating the moment would be inconvenient. It also adds another small decision about what a photo represents. A corrected image can serve a perfectly ordinary purpose, while still being different from the instant the camera recorded. The practical distinction is between improving a keepsake and treating every generated detail as documentary evidence. This is AI at its most domestically persuasive: not promising to reorganize civilization, just negotiating with a blink. The technology's grand ambition briefly becomes making the family look as though everyone cooperated at once. It is an impressive demonstration of how much computation people will accept when the alternative is asking the entire group to stand there for one more picture.
